Customer Profile: Andrea’s Cardi-Blazer

When Andrea came to visit us last, she brought several dresses along with this old blazer to see if there was something we could do with it. The blazer definitely had potential, but something about it wasn’t quite working, so we decided to revamp it! Andrea-cardi-blazer-final-lores

Customer Profile: Nick’s Vintage Borrelli Blazer Revamp

Nick has an amazing collection of vintage jackets, the only problem is they don’t fit! However, he understands that because of the quality of these pieces and the fact he could never find anything like it now, they are definitely worth investing in. He started by bringing in this Borrelli blazer along with a knit blazer (that I’m kicking myself I didn’t photograph!) This blazer was just way too big in the shoulders! 1 Nick's Borrelli recut

Problem and Solution: Repair Shirt Slice

Well folks, we’ve all done it. In one swift motion you hear that sound and dread looking down because you know what you’re going to find, that dumb dumb dumb hole!! Argh! After you get a few swear words out of your system, then you quickly accelerate to the mourning phase. However you might not have to give up on that shirt because of one silly hole!

Customer profile: Stephanie’s 80s dress revamp

Stephanie picked up this 80’s gem as a freebie in her building. It had a lot of potential, but there was no denying how 80’s it was. What I like to do on pieces like these is take the 80’s and trim it down to the 40’s. Stephanie's-80s-dress-final-lores

An Etsy “Oopsy!”

You may remember Emily’s most recent vintage revamp as well as her updated blazer.  This time Emily experienced what many of us have — we order something off Etsy and the clothing doesn’t come quite like it was in the pictures. I have dubbed this an Etsy Oops. Emily’s Etsy oops seems to be blessed with a 3rd boob. A look in itself but unfortunately not what she was aiming for. emily's-etsy-oops-final-lores

Customer Profile: Dafna’s King of Pop T-shirt

Well, she’s done it again! Dafna is the master at finding kick-ass clothing with potential at the thrift store and then paying us a visit. Her bargain find this time was a Michael Jackson “King of Pop” T-shirt. It wasn’t the best quality, and was that heavy weight knit that nobody really likes, HOWEVER it was the perfect piece for this project! Dafna-King-of-pop-lores

Customer Profile: Kevin’s Suit Re-Cutting

Kevin has been to us a handful of times, and this time he brought in an amazing suit from Redeem, only problem is the jacket in his size was sold out. Since the suit was too cool to pass up, he bought the over-sized coat anyway, and knew just where to bring it. Kevin's-blazer-recut-final-lores

Customer Profile: Kristen’s dress to skirt

Kristen came to us with an adorable dress that had been a hand-me-down from her sister. The intricate colored lace layers around the top of the bodice were beautiful, but the shapeless baby doll cut completely hid her figure! We were already using the trim from the bottom of the dress to lengthen a different frock, so we took advantage of the fact that we were already hacking it apart, and decided to make a skirt.

Customer Profile: Isabel’s Prom Dress

I love re-working vintage garments and imagining the stories behind each one. In Isabel’s case however, I got to hear some of the history firsthand. About twenty years ago, Isabel’s mother was traveling in Paris, and found this beautiful red velvet dress at a vintage market. She brought it home with her, where it lived in a closet. Eventually, Isabel was born, and grew up, and decided to wear the red velvet dress to her high school senior prom.

Customer Profile: Ksenyia Floral Dress

Here at Ginger Root, we 100% understand buying clothing based purely on amazing fabric. I myself have a gigantic tupperware tub FULL of crazy prints and bold colors, currently held hostage as unflattering or ill-fitting clothing. Kseniya came to us with an incredible find: a silk floral print vintage dress with the tags still on. Kseniya-floral-dress-final-lores
