This week’s customer profile is near and dear to our hearts! Ms Charlie Heck (Editor-in-chief of fab online magazine Luri & Wilma AND Ginger Root Tailoring receptionist extraordinaire) was in some trouble. Her magazine was just coming out with its first print issue, and she needed a spring-appropriate, fabulous dress for her launch party. She found this little ensemble on Etsy , but obviously it wasn’t going to work in it’s original condition. Charlie was getting lost in the side pleats and overall oversized cut of this dress.

First off, I removed the sleeves, and opened up the side pleat. After a second fitting, I was able to place where the new armscye  needed to be, and removed several inches from the bodice. Next, I hemmed the sleeves to a more manageable cap sleeve length, and reset them on the bodice.

By just removing all that excess material, Charlie was visible again! She looked amazing at her launch party and the magazine was gorgeous!  Now she’s got a cute spring dress top go with her spring issue of Luri & Wilma, and all of us at Ginger Root Design couldn’t be more proud 🙂
