This dress was a hand-me-down from Sarah’s friend. Since her friend was 6 feet tall, and Sarah’s rather petite, some alterations were DEFINITELY required. 🙂

We started with the basics, taking in the sides, and raising the shoulders. General tailoring that would bring this little black dress into her proportions.

Next, we looked at the style. Sarah loved the lace, (sexy without actually revealing anything), but the mock turtle neckline looked like it was choking her. I recut it into an oval, almost boatneck line. To finish it off, I made a bias tape trim out of vintage black silk, which mimicked the black ribbon around the sleeve.

Now Sarah has a classic LBD, perfectly tailored to her, which will forever remind her of her friend. Fashion and friendship are always a winning combination 🙂
