As a tailor in DC, I see a LOT of office wear. In the sea of navy, and Jos A Banks suits, and Loft separates, it’s hard to establish personal style while still meeting professional dress codes. But then there’s people like Rumbi, who’ve got it all figured out 🙂

Rumbi’s cousin gave her this skirt, and the fabric was amazing! The fit however…. We could have fit two Rumbis in there!

She brought it to Ginger Root hoping to turn it into a work-appropriate pencil skirt. First I re-cut the sides, and made a smaller waistband. Then I hemmed it up 20″ and used some of the extra width left in the center back seam to create a vent.
