This thrift store dress has been with us for a while.  We actually started working on this dress back in the Spring of 2010 and had to put it on pause in order to open our basement store at 1530 U st NW.  Originally it had a long hem and a collar, and the before picture (post hemming and collar removal) here shows that it has little shape, too much fabric still, and staining here and there.

In order to make this blue wonder into the ideal party dress, we removed the sleeves, trimmed the edges in black and manipulated the pleats for a little extra pizazz!  For the back, we gathered the fabric with a little band we cut from the sleeves for a sassy silhouette.  Metal Musings (owner Erin’s mom) was also in town and wanted to get her sew on, so she swapped out the buttons for snazzy black ones.
