Slender guys like John aren’t always down with an over-sized blazer. The jacket he brought in for his appointment was boxy, the shoulders were way too wide, and the sleeves were a tad too long.

This was a perfect project for the Gingers! We decided a slimmer fit blazer would suit him better, and also modernize the piece. After taking in the sides, resetting the shoulder, and raising the sleeves, it’s a much better fit, ready to pair with jeans or dress slacks.

Lookin’ sharp, John.

  1. If you don’t mind me asking, what does a tailoring job like this run? I don’t want to invade John’s privacy so an $x-amount – $y amount is just fine. My husband recently came into some lovely bespoke suit jackets. Unfortunately, they aren’t an exact fit for him. Also, we’re moving to DC in a matter of months so…See where I’m going with this?

Thank you so so very much, Gingers!

Hey Janice! Thanks for checking in! Working on jackets really depends on how much work is being done, as we charge by the hour. It can range from $50-$300 depending on if we need to reset the shoulders, hem the sleeves, adjust the length of the coat, etc. If the shoulders fit, that definitely cuts down on a lot of the work. We are also very upfront during the fitting on the prices because we never want to surprise you when the project is done, and if you decide it is out of your price range while we are meeting, there will be no hard feelings. The best thing would be for you guys to schedule a fitting, bring in a few jackets, and we can decide together which would be the best to refit. Feel free to email info@gingerrootdesign.com with any other questions, and good luck with the move!
