At Ginger Root Design, we are all beyond excited to announce that we are expanding! What exactly does that mean? The current location of Ginger Root will continue into the back so we can carry more artists and eco-friendly goods, and upstairs will be our tailoring and sewing shop. We need to hire more people but don’t have enough space for them, so we are making room.  For the first bit of change, here is our new logo for the store!

A note from Kristen:

“You know you have found an amazing city when you can move here with a waitressing job, within 2 month’s start a tailoring business out of your apartment, and just a few months after be so busy by word of mouth you need to (or get to!) bring out your best friend to join forces! I had no idea what DC was going to be like, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn how supportive and creative people can be here! Thank you for your patience during all of our growing pains! We never would have dreamed our tailoring business would be so busy we would have a wait list. Or, that our designs would sell out so quickly we were actually able to budget regular design time into our schedule. Thank you so much for spreading the word, for dropping in regularly even if to just say hello, and for helping us support eco-friendly and locally made goods.”

A note from Erin:

“I honestly thought that DC would be a pit stop on my way to New York (so cliché- I know…), or at least a temporary reprieve from Minnesota winters. Instead, we discovered that Washington is a vibrant, thriving city, full of caring and supportive people. True, you have to scratch the surface a bit more than in other cities, but once you find your niche, it’s golden. Thank you to all of our amazingly talented friends and artists who helped us open Ginger Root, and give it occasional face lifts as we stumbled towards our end vision. Thank you to all of our wonderful and loyal customers who patiently tolerated our wait list, and embraced the idea of locally produced jewelry and art. When we first opened, with a half full clothing rack, 4 additional artists, and trays of vintage earrings, neither one of us had any idea how the whole “Ginger Root” thing would turn out. I am completely blown away by how much our lives have since changed (for the better, of course) Stay tuned-  the exciting times are just beginning…”

We really appreciate all of your support and we couldn’t have made this far without you!

Sincerely,
Kristen & Erin
