Howdy folks! Today is the first post in our new series, “Our Tailored Closet,” where we showcase everyday outfits crafted with the help of our sewing machines!  Whether they’re our own re-vamped designs or old garments that we tweaked and tailored, we want to showcase how fun and easy it is to make the most out of clothes that might have otherwise gone unworn, lost in a bin at Goodwill, or even in a landfill.  We hope the series will inspire others to search their closets and reimagine new ways wear old, forgotten pieces!

Our sales girl, Julie, spotted this skirt at Trash Cat clothing exchange. It was too big, but she couldn’t say no to the sweet pink color and super low price. And when something is too big you just fix it with a belt, right? But for the most part, it pretty much just hung in her wardrobe, hiding in the dark and pining for the sunny outdoors. Now after some fairly basic-but-whoa-what-a-difference-it-makes alterations, it’s got a whole new life, serving as one of her go-to staple skirts. Paired with polka dots, cute shoes, and simple brass studs by Jennifer Jeremias, it was perfect for a sunny day at work!
