Sometimes you come across a vintage item that is truly a great find but isn’t quite right. Such was the case with Julie’s vintage wrap skirt. With old-fashioned country prints on each side,  it was colorful and cute, but way too long. Julie also had a “construction” request ;  she wanted to find a way to get rid of the tie in the back while keeping the skirt reversible. So we had to come up with a new way to fasten the skirt.  So after hemming the bottom, we got rid of the ties and replaced them with buttons and button holes on both sides. Now, Julie can wear it either which way (without any tie or knot sticking out the side). With a plain white tank and vintage scarf, it makes for  a sweet, folksy get-up.

(Tip! If you’re new to mixing prints, like this lady, you can start small by combining a small piece, like a scarf, with a larger one).

A sneak peek of the skirt’s other side!
