Cleaning out the closet?
One person’s trash is another’s treasure! Erin and Kristen of Ginger Root Design believe strongly in keeping their designs eco-friendly. They prefer to rescue unusable clothing items that thrift stores are unable to use and give them a second life cycle. The Gingers want to prove that eco-friendly doesn’t need to be crafty, and can be fashion forward and sleek.

If you are getting a jump start on spring cleaning, we are currently looking for:

  • khakis
  • dress slacks
  • skirts
  • dresses
  • sweatshirts
  • blouses
  • blazers
  • ties (*the more flamboyant the better)

No need to worry about holes, stains or better days, we will take them just how they are. Thank you ahead of time for your help!

Here’s a few example of the Ginger Root recycled designs:

Recycled from a sad-fitting 80s blazer with a few holes:

Recycled from a blazer with torn sleeves, and old khakis (that we dyed and refit of course!)

Recycled from a coat that once had moth holes and stains. Problem solved.

Recycled from damaged 80s blouse (paneling across chest is from sleeves), and a damaged vintage tie (into our signature Lady Tie)

Recycled from another damaged tie (into one of our Ascots)

Clearly, there’s lots that can be done to salvage old garments. If you want to learn the ins and outs of repurposing clothing, check out GOOD Magazine’s article!

If you have items that aren’t damaged and still wearable, bring them to Martha’s Outfitters! They are currently in need of men’s clothing, men’s shoes and spring clothing.
