Howdy folks! This week’s revamped dress comes to us straight from the 80s, with shoulder pads, stretched out elastic, poor tailoring ‘n all! Our inspiration was work-wear that can still be sexy and stylish without drawing too much attention.

With the broken elastic, the very first thing we did was slice it in half.  The skirt we tailored with darts and gathers, and added a more volume to the pockets so they would stand out a little.  Next, we added a zipper, gave the skirt a fresh hem, and recut a new waistband.  As for the top, the shoulder pads had to go.  We tailored and recut the sleeves, moved the black stripes so they were vertical and much more flattering, and shortened the length.  Go ahead and see what Ginger Root believes work wear should look like!
