About a Dress #29

This week’s about a dress was donated to us by a lovely tailoring client. The print was great, but as you can see, it was shredding. She’d had the arm pits patched multiple times by the dry cleaner, but was finally ready to throw in the towel, and hand it off to us for a second life. Luckily, my favorite summer look involves over size armscyes and bandeaus, and seeing how mother nature has been mocking us recently, it felt like time to tempt fate and start prepping for spring!

I added a green panel for an extra color pop, and recut the neckline for a bit more breathe-ability. I also cut out all of the stains and holes under the arm, and made bias tape out of the sleeve material to finish everything off. Originally I wanted to keep thus a dress, just hem it up a couple inches, but staining around the hem required it to be tunic length. No problem, it goes better with my bloomers! 🙂

I used the hem remnants to make a matching bandeau, perfect for keeping all the essentials covered while all showing some unexpected skin.

So it’s your move, Sun, cause we’re all set for summer!
