Happy New Year everyone! We took a little break for the holidays from About a Dress, but we back for our weekly post!  This week’s dress was a vintage piece that had been cut off at the hem, and was donated to us by the Trash Cat vintage ladies.  I liked the details across the front, and loved the drape, but the dress needed a little attention.

Ideally I wanted to make this piece wearable by 2 different girls: a tall slender girl who could wear it oversized draped over leather leggings, and a curvier girl who could rock this with bright colored skinny jeans for spring.

I cleaned up and rehemmed the dress to be a little shorter in front to make it more flirty.  I also wanted to bring out the collar detail (because honestly I have been obsessed with collars lately!)  The best way to do this of course was to set grommets on the collar, which makes everything better!

This dress is the perfect basic to wear out to a party, and come Spring/Summer out to run errands, paired with your favorite shorts and sandals.

Don’t forget to check back next Friday for About a Dress #21!
