About a Dress #13

This week’s About a Dress is (once again) all about fall! The Gingers took this shapeless black velvet sack (which looks vaguely like the pink atrocity Molly Ringwald sports in “Pretty in Pink”), and remade it into a transitional piece to help you work into fall fashion.

First, they had to remove some of the fabric and show off a little skin! The high collar was great, but in order to de-80s-ify the dress, they chopped off the sleeves and re-cut the armseye to be a more flattering shape. Then they added side slits to mid-thigh, to add a little extra sexiness. Lastly, they added one of their new extra long metal zippers (purchased on a recent trip to the NY garment district) to give the dress a color pop.

Wear this dress now with a belt, cute hat, and high heels to stand out at evening event. Or take it into fall by layering over a lace knit top, brightly colored tights, and a statement necklace. You can even winter-ize it with a chunky cardigan and super skinny pants. This dress can take you all the way to spring, and we’re loving it!
